Virgin to Start Sydney to Hong Kong Flights

Virgin to Start Sydney to Hong Kong Flights

Today Virgin Australia announced that they will be expanding there footprint into Hong Kong and adding daily flights from Sydney beginning mid-2018. This comes just 6 months after launch a daily Melbourne - Hong Kong service.

Similarly to the Melbourne to Hong Kong service, Virgin are servicing this route with a Airbus A330 that features there fully flat Business class product that is outstanding and will arguably be the best Business class option available to business travelers on the Sydney to Hong Kong route compared to Qantas or Cathay Pacific.

“Virgin Australia has been “shaking up” the Australia-Hong Kong market by introducing lower fares and its award-winning inflight product and service since it began its first Melbourne-Hong Kong flight last year,” Mr Borghetti said.

The Sydney to Hong Kong flights are due to go on sale 'soon' and per Virgin Australai are still "Subject to authorisation" but I would say it is pretty safe to say that all will go ahead as planned and this will be an exciting new route for Virgin. At 59,500 Velocity points one-way in Business class it will also be a great use of Velocity points!

The Sydney to Hong Kong timetable is as follows:

Route Flight Number Dep/Arr Day of the Week
SYD-HKG VA89 1000/1740 Mon, Tues, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun
HKG-SYD VA88 1950/0710 (+1) Mon, Tues, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun

It is great to see more competition entering the market and I look forward to giving this flight a go.
