I had made a deliberate choice this holiday to book into a few Hilton properties to test the Hilton HHonors Diamond upgrade benefit and see if we could score an upgrade or two. As we were only planning to stay in Hong Kong for a few nights, I splashed out on the Conrad as I have heard good reviews.

We arrived into Hong Kong at around 10pm, to get to the hotel we took the express train from the airport to Hong Kong central; this has to be one of the most efficient airport trains anywhere. You literally walk straight out of baggage claim and across to the platform. Then from Hong Kong central, we took a cab to the hotel which was a total of $25hkg (~$5aud). The taxi pulled in to the hotel, and we were pounced on by the hotel porter who had our bags out of the boot before I had finished paying the driver.

We made our way to the check-in counter to get our room key. I politely asked during the check-in process if any suites were available for Diamond members and was pleasantly surprised that we had already been upgraded to a junior suite!

The Room

We were on the 43rd floor right in the corner, and the room was huge! The room opened up into an entrance way where you could either go left to the bedroom and ensuite or right to a separate living area complete with two sofas and a full sized desk as well as another bathroom.

The hotel also offered a pillow menu, which I thought was a novel touch.

Each night the hotel turn down service included a refill of the chocolates and fruit in the lounge area as well as slippers being placed out on each side of the bed.

The room was also fitted out with Bose wave cd/radio players as well as a 50" tv in both the bedroom and living room.

Lastly, above the mini bar was a full Nespresso machine, offering a decent in-room coffee option.

The Executive Lounge

One of the best benefits of being a Hilton Diamond member is that you get access to the executive lounge no matter what room you are staying in, this also gives you complimentary breakfast in either the lounge or the restaurant.

The executive lounge is basically a lounge area that usually has mixed seating (table and chairs as well as sofas), a buffet and bar areas. They serve breakfast in the mornings and then offer afternoon tea in the late afternoon, followed by drinks and canapes in the evening.

The breakfast spread in the Executive lounge was impressive, it wasn't quite the full buffet but still had a decent selection of hot and cold options including a large fruit selection.

We also managed to make it back to check out the cocktail hour before heading out to dinner. They had beer, wine and limited spirits available as well as a mix of warm and cold canapes.

Overall Impression

I was really impressed with the Conrad Hong Kong and would certainly stay there again if given the opportunity. The hotel was located in a good spot and provided amazing service throughout our short stay. Whilst not the cheapest hotel in Hong Kong it was comfortable and well appointed, and if you happen to be lucky enough to score an upgrade to a junior suite you will have more room than you know what to do with!
